WINTER CARE FOR HANDS & FEET
Updated: Dec 12, 2020
TLC for your hands & feet
The cold chill of the winter can be tough on your skin. In the cooler months, the extremely dry air
drains the humidity from your body and leaves it looking dehydrated, dry and susceptible to cracks and cuts.
However if you plan a care-routine for your nails, they should not have to bear the brunt of it.
EFFECTS ON HANDS AND FEET
Wind and cold will harm your fragile fingers throughout the winters and make your hands appear temperature-beaten and world-weary. The key source of harsh, damaged nails in the winters is the loss of oxygen in the cold wind.
Try this seasonal care regimen to maintain your nails in perfect shape and prepared for spring:
Use a hand moisturizer at least 3 times a day.
Use a moisturising hand wash to retain moisture while gently cleansing your hands.
Use a strong, thick hand and foot cream in the evening. When you are asleep, this dense cream locks in the heat. If you’re comfortable you can keep the moisturiser from transferring and getting well absorbed, by wearing a pair of socks.
Use a cuticle oil at least once a day. In the early morning. We suggest leaving it on, then reapplying it in the afternoon and night.
In the colder months, wear the nails a little shorter . As they are still a bit more fragile than normal, having longer nails can contribute to more hitches and breaks. When the winter winds blow, leave them trim.
You can also try a soothing hand/foot soak to heal, then clean and smooth with a moisturiser.
